◆ WOLPC
◆ Origin
WOLPC (World Olympic Mathematics Competition) originated from OLPC (Olympic Mathematics Competition), the oldwst math competition in Taiwan which was founded in 1989.
OLPC is organized by Chinese Mathematics Association in April every year. A mathematical organization to provide math olympiad classes in Taiwan. CMA discover many children who are talented in the field of mathematics, provide various educational resources, support their growth and development, and represent Taiwan in various international math competitions. There were around 8000 students from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, China and Malaysia for the WOLPC in April 2023. This year WOLPC invited the WMI Committee members to participate.
◆ President
Tsai Kun Lung, the president of CMA and WMI, who was Well-known professional in mathematics education. He graduated from the Department of Mathematics at National Taiwan Normal University. He keens on carrying out thinking training methods which are different from the traditional ones to motivate children to think. He has cultivated many outstanding students and IMO contestants that represent Taiwan. As a member in numerous international competitions, he is an essential pusher for mathematical education at home and abroad.
